Health & Safety

Are your staff members trained and licensed?

Yes. Our dedicated team is comprised of certified nurse assistants (CNAs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and registered nurses (RNs) – all are licensed and/or certified by the state of Florida. In addition, in our Memory Care neighborhood, the staff, including non-clinical staff, are specially trained to care for those with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia with compassion and dignity.

Will someone be available to help if something happens to my loved one at night?

Your loved one’s safety is a 24/7 priority at The Cabana. We have registered nurses and certified nursing assistants on duty around the clock. In the event of an emergency during the nighttime hours, our licensed nurse can evaluate the situation and contact the physician or call paramedics.

What happens if my loved one gets seriously ill or needs to go to the hospital?

If a resident experiences a sudden illness or a change in their medical condition, our nursing staff will make an evaluation and, if needed, consult with a medical doctor. In the case of an emergency, we will seek emergency attendance from the nearby Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital or HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital for further evaluation. We will contact the family immediately.

Fees & Insurance

Is there an entrance fee?

No. The Cabana is an all-rental community with a flexible month-to-month agreement. However, as with almost all assisted living and memory care communities in Florida, there is a one-time community fee.

What is included in the cost?

The monthly fee includes three prepared meals daily, routine housekeeping and laundry services, and utilities. We offer transportation to and from several places, including healthcare appointments and convenience stores. In addition, residents enjoy a variety of planned activities, fitness programs, and social functions at no additional cost. In addition to our foundational services included in the base rent, we also offer two different care packages, that are provided when additional individualized support is needed. These packages have an additional monthly fee.

Veterans’ Aid and Attendance

Veterans may qualify for significant financial assistance through Veterans’ Aid and Attendance Benefits to help cover the costs of assisted living or memory support. The program can provide valuable financial support to eligible veterans and their spouses, enabling them to receive the necessary care. Review our eligibility checklist to see if you could qualify or contact Martin County Veteran Services at 772-288-5448.

Lifestyle and Amenities

Can my loved one bring their own furnishings to their suite?

We do not provide furnished units, so your loved one should bring all the belongings that will fit and make their apartment comfortable and familiar. Certain items may not be permitted for safety reasons. If you have questions about what is allowed or the dimensions of the apartment, contact us.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, some pets are allowed. Residents are permitted to have pets that include a small dog, cat, and fish. We do not allow more than one cat or one small dog per residence in Assisted Living. No personal pets are permitted in Memory Support. For the health and safety of our community, if a pet becomes a nuisance, residents must remedy the problem or re-home the pet outside The Cabana. All pets must be registered with the Resident Life Director.

Is smoking permitted?

The Cabana is a tobacco-free community. The use of all tobacco products is strictly prohibited, which includes all indoor public and private areas, such as residences. The use of tobacco products will not be permitted on the grounds or neighboring properties of our community. This policy applies to all residents, staff, guests, vendors, and visitors.
